A CALL TO THE SPIRITUAL ORGANISM

John 4:24 echoes a profound truth, proclaiming that "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth." It resonates with the revelation that, as beings crafted in the divine image, we possess a spirit—a sacred conduit through which we connect with the our Father. Amidst the myriad of physical and inward organs bestowed upon us by our Creator, the spirit emerges as the vital instrument for worship.

God, in His infinite wisdom, fashioned humanity with a purpose—to worship, to engage with Him, to receive His divine essence, to retain it, and yes, even to digest it. While the notion of digesting God may raise eyebrows, the analogy is rooted in the profound truth that the Lord Jesus Himself declared: "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst" (John 6:35). Jesus, the embodiment of divine nourishment, beckons us to partake in Him, to consume the spiritual sustenance that only He can provide. Just as our physical stomach digests physical food, our spiritual stomach, the organ of our spirit, is designed to digest the very essence of God.

In the intricate symphony of our being, the spiritual stomach remains hungry even after our physical stomach is satisfied with earthly sustenance. This hunger is a yearning for divine connection, a recognition that our spirit longs for communion with God. We must acknowledge the existence of this spiritual stomach within us, yearning daily to be filled with the divine.

Our spirit, akin to the nose designed for breathing in air, serves as the exclusive organ for receiving God. To deny God's existence based on the limitations of our physical senses is akin to attempting to grasp air with our hands or hear it with our ears. The spirit, when exercised, becomes the gateway to receiving God. To breathe in the divine presence, we must utilize the proper organ—our spirit.

Let us discard the notion that God is elusive, unseen, or ungraspable. The omnipresent God is with us, waiting to be acknowledged and invited in. The mind, while a valuable tool, is not the organ designed for direct communion with the divine. Instead, we must pivot inward, exercise our spirit, and call out from the depths of our being, "O Lord! O Lord Jesus!" In this act of worship, the divine Spirit meets the human spirit, and the symphony of worship unfolds—spirit communing with Spirit, humanity connecting with the divine. Halleluyah!!!

In the sacred space of worship, let us, as men, recognize the spiritual hunger within us, acknowledge the spiritual stomach yearning for God's essence, and deliberately exercise our spirit to connect with the divine. In doing so, we embark on a journey of profound worship, where the human spirit bows before the divine Spirit, and the transcendent exchange unfolds in the hallowed sanctuary of our innermost being.

The analogy of digesting God's essence like the bread of life adds depth to the understanding of spiritual nourishment.
