MAN AS GOD'S VESSEL

The Old Testament reveals a profound understanding of God's intent in creating human. According to Genesis 1:27, "God created man in his own image; in the image of God he created him." This creation can be likened to a glove designed specifically to encase a hand, suggesting that man was made in God’s image which mean to contain Him, a concept further explored in Romans 9:23, which speaks of vessels destined to manifest God's glory.

The use of "image" in Genesis suggests God’s desire to dwell within man, a process depicted as dynamic rather than static. Genesis 2 elaborates on this by showing God placing man before the tree of life, signaling His wish for man to partake in its fruit and assimilate God within himself. This theme of divine-human mingling recurs throughout the biblical narrative and is fundamental to understanding humanity’s creation in God’s image.

John 6 counters the resistance to this idea by presenting Jesus as the heavenly bread that humanity is invited to consume. This metaphor emphasizes the unity achieved through assimilation, similar to how food becomes part of the body. This act of consuming, dispensing, and mingling is essential to the relationship between God and humanity.

The incarnation of the Triune God—His life on earth, death, resurrection, ascension, and glorification—illustrates the method through which God dispenses Himself into humanity, facilitating a deep communion between Creator and creation. This process underscores a divine mechanism pivotal for imparting God’s essence to humanity.

God's eternal plan, aims to infuse God’s presence into His chosen people, culminating in the church’s formation. This continuity of divine purpose across both Testaments enriches our understanding of Scripture, emphasizing its depth beyond the surface level. It invites us to explore the multifaceted role of Christ portrayed through promises, prophecies, and typologies in the Old Testament.

Living in accordance with God’s divine dispensation transforms our perspective, infusing our existence with meaning and purpose. Each day presents a new opportunity for God to infuse us with His grace, wisdom, and love. Like a glove designed to contain a hand, our lives are intricately crafted to embody God’s fullness.

Engage deeply with God, allowing His essence to permeate your thoughts, actions, and relationships. Nourish your spiritual self with the teachings of Jesus Christ, the "bread of life," and integrate His love and presence into your very being. This engagement transforms every aspect of life, fostering a relationship marked by intimacy and divine purpose.

As you navigate life’s complexities, recognize that you are part of a continual divine process involving both dispensation and mingling. Embrace this journey as an integral part of your existence, a beautiful tapestry reflecting God’s glory and love. Living in this essence is not just an existential state but a call to action, urging you to approach each day with the consciousness that you are a vessel created to manifest the glory of God. May this knowledge empower you to live confidently and gratefully, ever aware of your role as an ongoing expression of divine grace.
