RECEIVING THE SPIRIT INTO OUR SPIRIT THROUGH FAITH
God entering into us through faith may be likened to a photograph being impressed onto the film inside a camera. In order to take a photograph, we should first remove the lens cap and focus the camera on the scenery. When we press the shutter, there is a “click,” and the outward scenery is impressed onto the film. The shutter’s “click” may be compared to our faith, and the scenery impressed onto the film may be compared to the Spirit, who is the Lord Himself and the ultimate consummation of the Triune God (1 Cor. 15:45; 2 Cor. 3:17).
We may take “photographs” of the Triune God as the divine scenery by turning to and focusing on the Lord (vv. 16, 18; 4:4). Since the Lord is the Word, we also need to focus on God’s word. We may “click” as we study the Scripture and spiritual books or listen to God’s word in a meeting. For instance, when we listen to a believer’s testimony concerning how real the Lord is or we have the experience, we may appreciate this testimony and tell the Lord that He is wonderful. In this way we “click.” We should learn to draw near to the Lord, turn to Him, and read His Word. We should do our best to journey with the Spirit standing on two or three verses from the Scripture every morning. As a result, we will gain some knowledge concerning the Lord Jesus (Phil. 3:8). This will produce in us a response, an appreciation of Him. Through such an appreciation of the Lord, we will gain Him as the Spirit, and He will become the riches that we enjoy.
Conversely, after you are saved, if you do not eat Jesus, pray, confess Him, or speak concerning how wonderful He is, you will not have much experience of Him. If you do not take photographs of the Lord as the spiritual scenery, you will have little to witness from Him. As long as you are willing to “click” a few times, you will have something to witness about. I can testify that I take photographs of the Triune God as the divine scenery day after day and that it is by experiencing these “clicks” that I have been able to bear many heavy burdens and pass through many situations.
You should learn to take photographs of the Lord as the divine scenery continually. When you call upon the name of the Lord and tell Him that He is wonderful or that you love Him, you will experience “clicks” of faith. As you keep “clicking” in this way, you will become spiritually rich. You may have many difficulties in your life, but as long as you keep turning to the Lord and allowing your faith to “click,” you will experience Him and have peace. If you continually turn to the Lord, you will experience many “clicks,” and you will become rich in Him. Then you will be able to bring your “photographs” to the meetings to show to others; that is, you will be able to testify of the Lord whom you have experienced.
We need to see that God, Christ, the word, faith, and the Spirit all refer to God Himself. Christ is God, and He is also the Word (Rom. 9:5; John 1:1). As we hear the word of Christ, an appreciation of Him is produced in us, and this appreciation is faith. Just as when a camera “clicks,” the scenery is brought into the camera and impressed onto its film, so also when we believe, the Spirit as the divine scenery enters into our spirit to become our life, our life supply, and many kinds of enjoyment to us.
